Coming Home
Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to the ideal that all people deserve a simple, decent, healthy place to live on terms they can afford to pay. Working in partnership with individual volunteers, churches, organizations and the new homeowner family, Habitat is building houses and building hope in Hancock County and around the world.
"Theology of the Hammer" (Fuller, 1994) explains the belief that true religion puts faith and love into action and suggests that in bringing diverse people together, picking up a hammer and building houses, we become instruments that manifest God's love.
Since 1991, Hancock County Habitat for Humanity has built eleven houses:
- 1991 Gouldsboro
- 1993 Bucksport
- 1994 Sullivan
- 1995 Sedgewick
|
- 1997 Bernard
- 1999 Sedgewick
- 2000 Brooklin
- 2000 Bar Harbor
|
- 2001 Seal Harbor
- 2003 Ellsworth
- 2005 Lamoine
