Building Homes, Building Hope, Building Community.

Hancock County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

In times of instability and suffering around the world, it is comforting to know that Habitat helps provide some stability and relief. Here in Hancock County, our Habitat affiliate brings together people from all walks of life to work together to build stable homes for our families to come home to at the end of the day. Habitat gives us the opportunity to unite together - no matter what race or religion or income - in a mission that is both positive and constructive.

You Can Build Hope for Tomorrow

Since 1989, Hancock County Habitat for Humanity has built eleven houses and is starting work on homes with two more families this year. We can't rest on these accomplishments - especially when there are many more families in need of help. The growing difficulty of obtaining suitable land either through private donations or through affordable purchases often slows progress. Lack of funds for materials and tools can stall our building goals.

Here's how Habitat for Humanity works:
