HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OPENS RESTORE IN HANCOCK COUNTY.
After several months of planning and donations, Hancock County Habitat for Humanity is opening it’s ReStore at 27 High Street in Ellsworth on October 1st at 12 noon. The mission of the Hancock County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is to provide the public with new and used, quality building materials and supplies at extreme discounted prices for their home improvement needs. This is done to reuse surplus materials, conserve natural resources and landfill space, and generate modest funds to further Habitat’s mission to provide decent, affordable, and safe homes in Hancock County.
Through generous gifts from the Maine Community Foundation’s Robert N. Haskell & Gladys M. Stetson Fund (start-up capital) and the TD Charitable Foundation (funds toward the purchase of the truck), the ReStore is set for it’s Grand Opening on Thursday, October 1st at noon.
Early in 2009, as part of its Strategic Plan, HCHH began to explore the possibilities of starting a ReStore operation in which construction materials and equipment (which the affiliate is given but cannot use) and other items (furniture, lamps, office equipment, etc.) can be sold to the general public at less than market prices in a retail store setting.
Habitat ReStore products for sale (inventory) will be those accepted as donations to the Habitat ReStore. Acceptable building/home improvement items are noted on the list below and will be received at the store during business hours or pick-up may be scheduled.
