Bucksport Repair Program

A Collaborative Pilot Project to Aid the Most Vulnerable
This year we created a collaborative pilot program with the Town of Bucksport and the Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition to do safety and accessibility modifications to the homes of elderly towns people who are living below the poverty level. The town granted us $15,000 to purchase materials and we will cover the cost of labor.
We build community...

Our Construction Manager will assess the home for needed repairs at the same time a representative from the Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition assesses overall safety needs and signs the person up for the THRIVE program, which provides support and linkage to other services that may be needed.

This collaboration recognizes the strong link between safe, affordable housing and good health and helps break the isolation for our elderly residents who may be restricted to their homes by accessibility issues.

"We're so grateful that so many resources came together to make this happen. We want to serve at least 20 projects within the next year,” said Vanessa Newman, consultant for Bucksport Bay Healthy Community Coalition. “This is the pilot program so the more people that are excited about it the more we can continue it."
